 as born in Wellington\, Shropshire\, UK in 1950. In 1974 he moved to Londo
 n\, playing piano with improvisers like Derek Bailey and also trumpet wi
 th the notorious Portsmouth Sinfonia.\n\nSince the mid-1970s\, he has work
 ed with hundreds of people\, including The Slits\, Han Bennink\, Christine
  Tobin\, Ivor Cutler\, Prince Far-I\, Vic Reeves\, Alan Hacker\, Ray Dav
 ies\, Ilan Volkov\, Najma Akhtar\, Evan Parker\, Adrian Sherwood\, The Fly
 ing Lizards\, Stewart Lee\, Otomo Yoshihide and John Zorn.\n\nFree impr
 ovisation is central\, generally involving piano and/or electronics. He al
 so writes songs\, TV and film music\, directs ensembles and has been known
  to sing and write.\n\nHe was a member of the groundbreaking group Alterat
 ions (1977 -1986)\, with David Toop\, Peter Cusack and Terry Day. They rec
 ently reformed.\n\nPeople he regularly performs with include Blanca Regina
  (with whom he runs the ‘Strange Umbrellas’ performance series)\, Elai
 ne Mitchener\, Satoko Fukuda\, Max Eastley\, Mark Sanders\, John Edwards\,
  Orphy Robinson\, Sarah Gail Brand\, Mandhira De Saram and the London Impr
 ovisers Orchestra.\n\n\nHe has had a long musical association with Swiss-A
 merican artist/musician Christian Marclay.\n\nThis concert will present a 
 duo with Steve playing electronics and toys and Blanca on voice\,electroni
 cs and visuals\n\n
