Prints

I’m a member of the London Centre for Book Arts since 2015, where I developed through years of artist book projects, prints ( letterpress, lino, marbling, risograph) research, and self-publishing as an artistic practice.

I presented my first solo show in Mexico in 2016, including screenprint in textiles, large monotypes based on photography, sculpture, and audiovisual works ( projection mapping ), and collaborative performances where I worked in multiple studios including Taller de Fernando Sandoval in Oaxaca where learned to etch and created large scale monotypes.

This trip to Mexico changed my vision, I will spend four more years back and forth working in printmaking studios leading workshops and developing exhibitions. I worked back at Taller de Grabado de Fernando Sandoval. Other experience includes screenprint in paper and textile at El Ojo Peludo with Dr. Lakra. In Mexico City murals, lino, and etching with Antonio Griton.

Duets with Blanca Regina, Spontaneous Music on Unpredictable Series.

Duets with Blanca Regina/ Spontaneous Music’ was recorded on Saturday, August 11 in a studio in Hackney, East London, by sound recordist and musician Syd Kemp.

Drawing on the strong tradition of free improvisation (or spontaneous music) for which London is renowned throughout the world,  Blanca Regina recorded short duets with each of nine musicians.

The players she chose are skilled and experienced, but with very different approaches. Her presence on each track gives the resulting recording a unity, and everything was recorded in one day. The musicians were Leafcutter John, Terry Day, John Butcher, Benedict Taylor, Matthias Kispert, Aneek Thapar, Steve Beresford, Sharon Gal, and Hyelim Kim.

The album – available as a CD and digital download – was produced by Steve Beresford and Blanca Regina, and mixed and mastered by Dave Hunt. The titles of the tracks are derived from streets near the recording studio.

Blanca Regina is an artist, curator, and tutor based in London, and is currently involved in creating audiovisual performances, sound works, multimedia installations, photography and book arts.

The vibrancy of the music scene in London was a major reason for Blanca to move here in 2011. Since then she has built up strong musical relationships with a variety of musicians.

Projection art & videomapping

Projection art & videomapping

Some of our projects involve architectural and object video mapping as a means to explore the relationship between space, audiovisual and public art. This works are in site-specific. The practice includes a research of the architecture and public spaces as we study its elements and possibilities of transformation through light and projections.

The work is inspired and comprises some of the history, present and possible futures of each space and its inhabitants revealing some aspects never previously seen before. To produce them we compile archives ( photos, videos, text) and create new materials by making interviews, photos, films, text and music. Overall we produce and ephemera audiovisual public multimedia narrative that transforms the space with projections producing a compelling immersive experience.

CATRINA & LOS ANGELITOS

CATRINA & LOS ANGELITOS

Catrina in an installation by Blanca Regina. that explores the tradition of night of the death in México:

‘ Life without death its not conceivable. For a good crop!’

The catrina is a piñata that shifts via moving image projections. In the frame of a space that invites you to observe. The adventure of the physical to the esoteric. Multiple of landscapes shown belong to locations such as Gran Canaria, Madrid, Córcega and proximities and the state of Oaxaca. The animations of the sculpture had been painted in watercolors, animated and digitalized and post-produced by the author. The eyes of the catrina are sound responsive. The sound has been recorded in Oaxaca during the day of the dead and other soundscapes.

Materials: Video, sound, piñata, swarowksi balls, fan, microphone, stereo speakers, flowers of the death
