‘Narrating Structures’ is an intensive workshop where we introduce projection mapping. We will look at diverse techniques for the production of audiovisual projects in architectural spaces and objects and also its application in artistic and creative practice.
PROGRAMME
The 2-day workshop is presented in sections with hands-on practice.
1st Session >> Saturday
– Introduction to the mentor and presentation of their work in this field.
– Study of multiple video mapping projects. Hands-on.
(half an hour break)
– Learning multiple techniques and applying them using different spaces and structures.
– Introduction to MadMapper 4
– Hands-on!
2nd Session >> Sunday
– Projection mapping on different surfaces.
– Creating content and live techniques.
– Introduction to Mini Mad and DMX light control with MadMapper
(half an hour break)
– Creation and presentation of a specific group project.
At the end of this workshop you will be able to:
– Create various projections simultaneously
– Shape light into objects and spaces
– Project management and networking with local and international communities.
This workshop is for artists, graphic designers, architects and anybody interested.

Tech requirements:
Bring your computer with mini display port adaptors if you use Mac. This workshop is oriented to Mac and PC users.
A Mac laptop with Osx 10.7 is recommended. 10.6 is not supported.
You can bring also If you have, midi controller, projector, model/shape you want to map on, DMX controller (Artnet, Enttec or Minimad)
If you need to rent any equipment ( computer ) for the workshop please do get in touch.
This workshop includes a 1-month full access temporal licence of MadMapper and entitles the participants to educational discount in MadMapper software purchase.

Dr Blanca Regina Pérez-Bustamante is an artist, curator and educator based in London.
She is currently involved in creating audiovisual performances, sound works, installations and film. Her research and practice encompass video mapping, sound art, spontaneous music, moving image, performance and multimedia events.
She has taught more than 30 video mapping workshops worldwide. In 2019 she developed a research a 6 months research project ‘ Immersive Pipeline’ at Goldsmiths University, looking at immersive audiovisual environments and the translation of artworks to multiple digital formats. She has curated with Unpredictable Series in London a series of sound and visual art events in London at Cafe OTO, OTO Projects, Iklectik, Ray’s Jazz at Foyles, Waterstones and Portland Hall (CREAM/ University of Westminster). Supporters of our projects include Cream, Crisap, Sound & Music, and Arts Council England.
Since 2014 associate lecturer at Event and Experience Design department at the University of Kent. From 2011-2014 she was visiting research fellow at Chelsea College of Arts & Design at University of the Arts London. In 2010, she received a doctorate in Humanities from University Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid, with the thesis: The VJ and audiovisual performance: towards a radical aesthe8c of postmodernism. She is also running an art studio in Madrid called Mademotion since 2011.
