SONIC WATERLOO, which runs in London from the 2nd to the 9th of July 201, is a festival that presents activities around the subject of sound in various locations in the area of Waterloo, including IKLECTIK, Lower Marsh, Granby Place, Morley College and Old Paradise Yard.

Highlights of the festival include an exhibition called Sonic Waterloo that presents videos, installations and sculptures by Hugh Davies, Peter Cusack, Lee Berwick, Rob Olins, Ximena Alrcón and others. And live performances presenting sonic practices, cross disciplinary arts and free improvisation. Leafcutter John, Rie Nakajima, David Toop, Janek Shaefer, Isnaj Dui, Kathy Hinde, Gino Robair and more artists will launch the first edition throughout the week.

There will be series of talks by specialists about sound & politics, technology, environment and psychology with Jean­Paul Thibaud, Ruth Herbert, Atau Tanaka, Cathy Lane, Iris Garrelfs, etc. There ́s also a sonic walk around Waterloo and a sound exploration workshop for kids. IKLECTIK is a beautiful space next to Archbishop’s Park, a few minutes walk from Lambeth North tube station and close to Waterloo station. It will act as a focus for the festival ́s activities. The unique nature of the area ­ its geography, sounds, social and artistic history ­ will be reflected in music and visual work and participatory workshops and sound walks in various interesting locations.

Sonic Waterloo is curated by Eduard Solaz (IKLECTIK) and Steve Beresford & Blanca Regina (Unpredictable Series).
